Change In Expiry Period Of NPNet Password

Please be reminded that NPNet password will be set to expire in 90 days starting from 15 May 2014.

To phase this change, staff whose NPNet password is affected by the policy will receive email reminders to change their password starting from 29 April 2014.

Staff are strongly encouraged to change their password immediately upon receipt of the reminder. Staff may change their password on campus or remotely via the Account Provisioning System.

Lotus Notes Sametime Chat

The Lotus Notes Sametime Chat allows NP staff to message text, send file and create a group messaging session.

Personal Data Protection

Under the Personal Data Protection Act, personal data includes any information that could identify a person such as name, NRIC, FIN and mobile number.

Within NP, we should protect such information by:

• Restricting access to the data either by applying Rights Management Services (RMS) security on Microsoft Office files or using TrueCrypt on any file format or folder.
• RMS is applicable only to Microsoft Office documents. You can specify the RMS controls for staff via the File > Info option.
• For external users who do not have NPNet accounts, you may encrypt using TrueCrypt, an encryption tool which creates a password protected volume for storing your data files or folders.

Pay And Print Service On Campus

Please take note that Pay & Print service is available on campus for students to print their work. Students could send a print job to the printers from anywhere on campus and proceed to the Library or OurSpace@72 to pay, print and collect their printouts.

System Maintenance

MeL and Network
There is a scheduled maintenance for MeL and upgrade of network devices for NPal2 on Sat, 3 May 2014, 10am to 12pm. Users may experience momentarily interruptions when accessing the MeL and slowness when accessing the NPal2 systems.

NPal2 Campus Solutions
NPal2 Campus Solutions will be unavailable during the maintenance on Sun, 4 May 2014, 1pm to 4pm. NPal2 Financials, Human Capital Management and Learning Management sub-systems will remain accessible.
