NPNet Account Security

Please take note of the upcoming security enhancements to the staff NPNet account policies:

• With effect from 10 July 2014, staff will not be able to reuse the 10 most recent passwords when selecting a new password. This is to prevent unauthorised access.
• With effect from 4 August 2014, the NPNet account will be locked after 10 unsuccessful log-in attempts. This is to prevent brute force attacks.

All staff are strongly encouraged to change their NPNet password immediately upon receipt of the Password Change email reminder. Staff may access the Change Password program from the embedded link in the reminder email or in the Staff Intranet to change their NPNet password.

Avoid allowing your computer to store your NPNet password. While it may be more convenient, it is less secure as anyone accessing your computer will be able to access your NPNet resources easily. Click here to learn how to remove any stored NPNet password.

Personal Data Backup

Backup copies of your desktops, notebooks and other smart devices are important when you need to recover from an accidental loss or a corruption of data.

Staff are required to use only NP-issued portable media, eg. thumbdrive and hard disks for official files.

System Maintenance

MeL
Scheduled maintenance for MeL on Sat, 7 Jun 2014, 10am to 2pm. Users may experience momentarily interruptions when accessing the MeL.

 

Sat, 7 Jun 2014 8.30am to 3pm

Network
Scheduled maintenance for the network at the Kismis residential blocks on Sat, 7 Jun 2014, 8.30am to 3pm. Network services at Block 90, 92 and 94 will be interrupted during the maintenance.
