Email Account of Graduate Class 2012

The email addresses of Graduate Class 2012 will be converted to the Alumni email address on 12 Jun 2012. All folders and existing email in the student account will continue to be available in the Alumni mailbox. Graduates have been notified separately.

The new Alumni ID will take the format studentID@alumni.np.edu.sg

Calling Microsoft Visual Studio Users

Are you using Microsoft Visual Studio for developing applications for your department or school?

If you wish to continue using it, you are required to purchase a license from MS select at http://mars.np.edu.sg/fin/Pur_Buy_Term.html from 1 Jun 2012 onwards.

Alternatively, you may download the free Microsoft Visual Studio Express version at http://www.microsoft.com/express


Student Connect Mail

Staff are strongly encouraged to send email to students' Connect Mail as an official email communication channel.

Students could activate the option of re-directing mails in Connect Mail account to his/her personal email account. Steps are provided at this link >>

Benefits of using students' Connect Mail:

  • Students will be able to find official or important emails from NP quickly.
  • Schools and departments will be able to reach out to students through valid email addresses (Connect Mail) for broadcasting important messages.
  • When students send email using Connect Mail, information such as name and course are displayed clearly for staff reference.

Alert for Users of Google Chrome

Multiple security vulnerabilities are found in Google Chrome. These vulnerabilities could allow attackers to remotely cause application to crash, conduct spoofing attacks and also access and modify information.

To make sure you are protected by the latest security updates, you are advised to update to the latest available version of the browser.

Alert for Users of Apple Quicktime

Multiple security vulnerabilities are found in Apple Quicktime version 7.7.2 and earlier and an update has been released to fix the vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities could allow remote attackers to execute malicious code and cause application to crash.

Staff are advised to update your QuickTime to the latest version.

Here are the steps for update:
For Windows users, open the QuickTime Player and go to > Help > Check for QuickTime Updates…

For Mac users, at the Apple menu, choose Software Update.


Wireless Network Maintenance
Sat, 2 Jun 2012, 8am - 6pm

Wireless access to network on campus will be slow during maintenance period.


NPal Maintenance
Sun, 3 Jun 2012, 1-4pm

All NPal services for Staff and Students will be unavailable during maintenance on Sun, 3 Jun 2012 from 1 to 4pm for the application of security patches.


No access to internet and network @ Makan Place & Blk 51 Lecture Theatres

There will be no wired and wireless connectivity at Makan Place and Blk 51 Lecture Theatres on Sat, 2 Jun, from 8am to 12 midnight. This is to facilitate EM renovation work at Blk 51.

You are advised to use other locations (eg Atrium, Munch) for internet or network access.
